Review - Rimmel Lasting Finish 25Hour Foundation

So i was speaking to a friend and i was telling her i needed a new foundation and if she used any i might like. She mentioned 'Rimmel Lasting Finish' i actually had never heard of it so a week or so ago i got sent it  in 3 different shades since i self tan but ive shown a picture of the one i used on my model down below, it retails for under £8 in Boots or Superdrug. It claims :-

- that its sweat, heat and humidity proof
- it lasts up to 25 hours
- for your skin to feel energized and hydrated all day
- To be full coverage but still natural looking
- To feel lightweight like there's nothing on the skin
Now, i myself have used this foundation and so has the model down below in the picture. When i applied the foundation i felt that it was very easy to blend in, it wasn't to runny but then again it wasn't to thick, the first coat done just enough to colour correct small areas of the face but i felt like it needs a second coat on any blemish or area that was a bit more red, the second coat applied even better than the first after that second coat i couldn't even see an outline of any of the models imperfections it really does live up to the full coverage statement, she said it felt like there was nothing on her face so it also lives up to the lightweight feeling statement, we then applied some concealer and me personally, felt like it didn't need any concealer it already gave that gorgeous flawless glow, but we put a dot under each eye just to give that highlight effect as you can see in the picture, but what we could see is it was already settling into the fine lines of her face and any hair whatsoever on her face kind of stood out a bit more than it usually would so that was the first 2 problems i could see, we finished the look off with some translucent setting powder because it didn't need anymore coverage and she went to do her day to day tasks.

She came back 6/7 hours later and i could see that its already rubbed of the tip of her nose, her jawline and a bit on the side of her head near the temple and a bit on the forehead, so that was an issue so i feel that its not as sweat proof as it claims. On the plus side there was no shine nor was her face greasy. I feel like the foundation just couldn't last even 8 hours without touching up and really properly fixing it never mind 25 hours.

All and all when i tryed it i did like how it looked, it gave amazing coverage but the same did still happen to me, it sunk into my fine lines, which isn't really a big deal if you know how to fix it. It did also look a bit dry for me personally so i feel like this foundation would be a good one to wear for grocery shopping, the beach? really only going out the house for a couple hours id say 6/7 hours max before it starts to look too bad!. We also done a flashback test and it doesn't give you a white cast and it photographs perfectly.

In conclusion its a good drugstore foundation, amazing coverage! i dont know if i would personally recommend it to clients but then again were all different, it will work on some people and then not others! that's just how it goes! but honestly if your looking for a light foundation with a good full coverage and a nice colour for your lazy weekends or weekdays in then i would add this to your collection!

Skin Care - My Secret Too A Flawless Tan

I get loads of  questions and compliments all the time about my self tan!. Want to know my secret to a flawless tan? then just keep reading and i will tell you all my tips and tricks for a perfect tan.

1 - Before even think about self tanning i will exfoliate if you dont know what exfoliate is, its a deep cleanse of the skin using some kind of wash mit, wash brush, cloth or whatever you use to clean yourself, its best to be in a bath to let your skin properly soak but its not essential. Then after i have finished exfoliating i will shave! now shaving is a perfect step because it takes all the dead and loose skin away leaving you a nice smooth and clean canvas to work with!, If you remember on my earlier post 'A Beginners Guide to Self Tanning' you know not to moisturize after your bath/shower before self tanning because it prevents the developing process of the tan

2 - Ive tried so many tans and i've found 2 that works best for me -,
- St. Tropez, which is one of your more expensive UK high street self tans at about £10 or more it has more of a nice brown undertone, it can be maintained but does tend to go patchy over the course of 4/5 days which isnt to bad, and ofocurse my most current obsession Bondi Sands its an Australian tan this is more of your high end self tan costing about £15/£20 per product depending on where you shop.it can be sold either on the internet, it gives me the that perfect Italian yellow toned finish that ive always wanted, it can be maintained i once maintained this tan for about a week and  ahalf and it was still close to flawless, it doesnt go patchy or orange if you know what you're doing, definitely my holy grail self tan. If your on more of a budget though id say try something a little cheaper such as St. Moriz as its no more than £5 i personally found it wasn't the best quality and it made me look a little green, but that's my personal opinion overall an Ok self tan but i personally wont be purchasing it again.

3 - Right, now here is where we get into the more exciting stuff! once you've covered lets just say your neck and chest with the tan of your choice (use your tanning mitt to applicate) then get a unused buffing brush that you would normally use for makeup and while the self tan is still wet buff it all into the skin using the brush in nice circular motions everywhere until the tans is dry do the same everywhere else your applying your tan. Apply with your mitt evenly covering all the skin then blending it out with your buffing brush until the tan is all spread out evenly and dry then put some loose clothing on and leave over night! Remember to always shower in the morning but just have a look at my 'A Beginners Guide To Self Tanning' post if you want a more in depth application process.

So there you have it! my secret to a flawless tan is finally out! a 'Buffing Brush' you wouldn't think it was something so simple and easy would you?

Lifestyle - Self Happiness and Dealing with Social Anxiety

One thing a lot of people lack is self confidence and happiness, especially now a days.

For years now ive made a huge mistake, ive been trying to find my happiness and confidence in someone else, in relationships, friendships and that just hasn't worked mainly because what ive learned is self happiness and confidence comes from within yourself and only you can fix that, it might seem pretty obvious now, but all your concentrated on at the time is trying to be happy and it kind of takes you away from reality a little bit.

My situation has never helped. Me being gay and me having basically my own style and identity has gave me a lot of unwanted attention! you would think that would give me self confidence all this attention but it actually picks at it, dont get me wrong i wouldn't change myself for the world. It is hard though, my friends notice it a lot as well, like i hate walking past big crowds of people so usually i force my friends to walk to the other side of the street just to avoid them, i guess that wheres the whole 'Social Anxiety' comes in. Its got so much better but its taken me years and years just to get this happiness i have at this moment in time. So here is some tips on how i like to stay positive and deal with social anxiety.

First of all i know its so hard but just remember that your not the center of the universe, i know i have a lot of trouble when i see someone looking at me or there harmlessly just speaking to there friends and you automatically think there speaking about you because one of them happen to look over, dont think that just stop and take a moment, take a deep breath, clear your mind and just relax! say to yourself, why would thy be speaking about me? they dont even know me, im just being silly' trust me it works! dont over evaluate things!

Second, think happy thoughts, think about what your having for dinner tonight, if your out to go shopping think about what you need and how much it might cost, or if your out just for a nice little walk in the park bring a pair of earphones, plug them in and listen to your favurite music! i always do that! doesn't matter where im going i will always bring my earphones! its such a calming thing to do it takes your mind of it all, especially if you have problems socially.

Third, now if your actually in a situation where you bump into an old friend or something, take deep breaths, loads of happy thoughts, have a chat, its okay to fall silent sometimes because a conversation is a two way street! and after the conversations done, i promise you, you will feel really good and proud of yourself!. Its a step by step process take your time, it takes time to overcome any sort of disorder or problem in your life, it wont happen unless you work for it! think of it as a voluntary job, its not something you really want to be doing in your spare time but you no its for a good cause!.

The fourth is actually one of my favurite, is exercising!. When you exercise your body releases chemicals called endorphin. These endorphin's interact with the receptors in your brain that reduces your perception of pain! Endorphin also triggers a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. For example, the feeling that follows a run or workout is often described as "euphoric." That feeling, known as a "runner's high," can be accompanied by a positive and energizing outlook on life.

Being happy with yourself takes time, a lot of time, but if you want it bad enough its never to far out of your grasp you just need to stretch a little further and further until you get it.
I hope these couple of tips helped out, i personally follow these and it works for me but doesn't mean they will work for you, you just need to keep trying to find your inner happiness and to keep a clear and level head when it comes to social anxiety just remember to always question it, always.

Skin Care - A Beginners Guide To Self Tanning

Alot of people are actually very scared and hesitant about the idea of self tanning mainly because they dont want to look like a big patchy orange! but this post is here to insure you dont turn into that big patchy orange that your so scared of!.

If your still hesitant about the whole self tan but still want that golden glow you can start with something a little bit lighter, a gradual tanning milk is a good way to go! but always remember with the tanning milk dont expect miracles it wont develop overnight like a self tan. It will take a few applications before you start to notice a change depending on your skin tone and type.

My first tip to all you beginners out there who are curious about the self tanning world and want to try please remember that a little product goes a LONG way if applicated and blended properly, remember you can always get some more if you need it, it wont run away when you aren't looking! also before self tanning remember to properly exfoliate your body and shave! exfoliating just properly cleanses and softens your skin, as shaving takes all the dead skin away and gives you a nice clean canvas to work from. When your out the shower/bath dont moisturize before tanning as it can stop the developing process of the tan and if any tan does develop it will be patchy and discolored.

My second tip would be if you want that perfect finish and application i would advise you to use a mitt or some kind of applicator, mitts/applicators aren't expensive, probably round about £5 will get you a decent mitt, but most tans come in a package with a mitt. Also for health reason remember to wash your mitt regularly. I personally wash mines after every second application, and from my experience id also advise you to get a mitt that's actually black, it lasts longer and takes longer for any /if any kind of discoloration to happen but there actually shouldn't really be a discoloration for a long time.

My third tip would be before self tanning use some kind of moisturizer or wax/vaseline on all the dry areas, so your knuckles the creases on the back of your hand, your elbow, your ankle, your knee just generally all the places the tan will over develop and cling too but only apply moisturizer, wax or vaseline to the places that are overly dry not your whole body.

My fourth tip is a simple one, whenever you wake up you will look a bit dark and patchy dont even bother looking, go straight in the shower and the shower basically takes off that layer of the bronzer/developer that is no longer needed! and please please please DO NOT rub the areas where you have self tanned, tan is so delicate under water and you will rub it all off and become very patchy! so dont rub and the same with drying yourself, DO NOT rub! you will rub your tan off and become very patchy! so just pat your skin until dry like i said your tan is very delicate when wet.

My fifth and last tip is to moisturize! moisturizing helps maintain a tan! moisturize every night ofr after every shower until your self tan is ready to come off! the longest I've maintained a tan for is about a week and a half, that's the perfect amount of time to keep that tan on for! then at the end of the week you just start again, following these tips and tricks!.

Skin Care - Makeup Removal

i cannot stress enough how important it is to remove your makeup before sleeping!. One thing i HAVE to do is remove my makeup at night, there is nothing worse than waking up and your face has broken out because of your own stupidity. why wouldn't you want to wash your face at night anyway? its beyond me.

Overnight make-up dulls and ages the face. So, for your sake, fight the laziness or tiredness and spare a quick 5 minutes to cleanse and moisturize your face. Your face is exactly the same as the rest of your body! when sleeping your body heals and regenerates, your actually stopping that process because all your pores are clogged up with makeup let me give you an example of what can happen if you leave mascara/other eye makeup on just for one night while you sleep.

  • Leaving mascara and other eye-makeup on overnight could lead to serious infections such as conjunctivitis, as old make-up particles fall into the eyes. It can even cause you to lose eyelashes as old mascara can clog eyelash follicles, which can lead to breakage and shedding

Lets start with the actual process of removing makeup, when removing makeup always start with the eye area, as it can be so much harder to remove, first never be harsh with your eyes they are very sensitive! and heavy tugging can cause wrinkles. A good eye makeup remover is baby shampoo, put a bit of that onto a cotton bud or your eye makeup cloth and gently massage to remove all makeup in the eye region.

On the rest of the face you can use makeup face wipes and again dont tug the skin its also sensitive and once you've removed the noticeable makeup with your wipes always remember that its not gone even though its not visible to the eye its still inside your pores so what id recommend now is that you use some kind of face wash that removes oil and gets deep into the pores. After that ALWAYS remember to moisturize because what you've done is remove all the moisture on your face by wearing makeup that whole day and by taking all the oil out of it while removing the makeup. It doesn't matter if you naturally have oily skin, the moisturizer will trap all the moister for you so your skin can begin the healing process.
Well i hope you've learned a little about the importance of proper makeup removal because it really is an important routine that should take place every night before you sleep! even having no makeup on! always moisturize and take care of your skin!. I will go into detail of my own makeup removal routine and the products i use in a future blog!

Skin Care - My Journey To Heathy Skin

Hey guys! and welcome to technically my very first ever 'beauty' blog! as you can see from the title ive decided to kick start my blog with skin care. For some of you who dont actually know what skincare is and the whole aspect of it, initially skin care is taking care of your skin, yes i know your saying 'its that simple?' well yes it is! people read to much into it and over think, 'oh i need to buy expensive products, i need the best, nothings going to work if its not a high end product from one of these huge well known companies' well think again! let me give you a quick example.

I've had horrible skin for years now! and just a couple months or so ago we got back from our college break and my friend Hannah who didn't have as bad skin as me but it was pretty red with a few spots came back and her skin looked absoloutly amazing, i asked her what she has been using and she told me she had been using a brand named 'Skin System' the 'Young Skin' range i actually had never heard of it so i asked her the prices and where to get it from and she said "£1/£2 at the most and i got it from Asda". I was literally speechless! so we went to Asda the week after and i bought some of my own, i bought a moisturizer, a foaming facial scrub, a Daily Face Wash and spot jel, from another range that they have called 'Clear Skin' as you will see in the picture below. After about a week i noticed a huge difference! it was unreal! everyone was complementing my skin, i could actually leave my house without makeup and not have to worry about what people thought!. Its been almost a month and a half and my skin has literally cleared right up, i still have a few patches of redness and a couple hormonal spots but that's to be expected for only using it for a month!

It just goes to show that you dont have to be spending £££ on high end products that will do near enough the exact same effect as a £1/£2 product. Price is nothing to do with quality, the only reason some of these high end products cost so much is because the actual brand itself, the ingredients and of course its reputation. Everyone should have some kind of skincare routine because at the end of the day the skin you have now is the technically the only skin you will ever have so look after it!, the result is so worth it. I'd definitely recommend checking the products i mentioned out, i think there exclusively to Asda but i will do a whole review just on the Skin System brand itself in another blog!
